Taking advantage of the new IE9 and HTML5 platform and features, the Mike Tomkins Video and Mixer Experience provides a fun and unique way to interact with a variety of audio and video content within the browser. The HTML5 application provides a rich and visually compelling interface that allows users to interact with audio and video tracks of Mike Tompkins as he covers the hit song “Firework,” originally by Katy Perry. The application allows for intuitive interactions like flipping through and interacting with videos and audio tracks in a Polaroid-like visual layout, and visitors to the site have the opportunity to create custom Mike Tompkins-inspired audio mixes using an interactive audio sequencer and share these via Facebook and Twitter.

The Mike Tompkins Video and Mixer Experience highlights the powerful capabilities of HTML5 in IE9 and was demonstrated during Microsoft’s IE9 Launch keynote presentation at SXSW 2011. Partnering with Microsoft, Archetype produced a compelling and useful application that demonstrates a new way to experience the Web.

The Mike Tompkins application incorporates advanced HTML5, SVG, CSS3, scaling, Audio/Video tags and custom font features and functionality, and features several video and audio-based and interactive elements surrounded by an immersive and dynamic user interface.

Audio and Video Sync

Archetype created a unique creative experience around audio and video manipulation that allows users to control video playback by manipulating dynamic sliders within the interface, and provides a set of intuitive and advanced audio controls that allow users to control track volume and playback. When a user adjusts audio for a track, the video size and opacity of the corresponding video track is also adjusted, creating a more dynamic and compelling interactive experience.

Social Integration

The Mike Tompkins experience integrates advanced social networking features, allowing users to share the experience via Facebook and Twitter.
