The National September 11 Memorial & Museum (9/11 National Memorial) approached Archetype to design and develop a set of interactive applications that create artistic channels of expression for community building and personal growth across platforms and mediums such as the national911memorial.org website, museum, show floor, and, in the future, mobile devices. The focus of these interactive applications is to drive a deep level of visitor engagement around the 9/11 Memorial content through highly creative, yet easy to navigate text, audio, and visual content. These applications incorporate creative and dynamic interactions, while maintaining a high degree of readability and usability.

Interactive 9/11 Timeline
Archetype created a dynamic and interactive timeline of the events of 9/11 and the aftermath that connects timeline entries with oral histories, video content, and images of artifacts within the Museum’s collection. The timeline includes various media formats including audio, video, and text to create engaging, educational web experiences that offer factual information in an interactive interface.
Launch
Lady Liberty
The Lady Liberty interactive application brings to life a replica of Lady Liberty that was adorned from torch to toe with tributes and outside a firehouse following the 9/11 attacks. In the Lady Liberty online application, users can browse 9/11 tributes and stories attached to the artifact by zooming and panning around the intuitive interface and imagery. The application allows users to scroll over high resolution photographs as well as magnify the imagery. Pop up text also describes certain sections of the image and contains more detailed information about each artifact.
"Our goal in building the Lady Liberty application was to make users feel, through an interactive experience, as if they are standing in front of the physical statue, taking in every detail, tribute and memorial" said Danny Riddell, CEO, Archetype.
"Archetype is honored to work on the Lady Liberty application, helping to further the mission of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum" said Mike Lucaccini, President, Archetype.
Launch
Content Management System
In order to manage the content from the Museum and submissions from end users, Archetype created a robust administrative tool for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. The administrative tool enables the National September 11 Memorial & Museum to perform tasks such as adding and removing content, as well as reviewing, and approving or rejecting end-user content submissions (i.e., before going live on the site).
